Condition for peace is the respect of life, human dignity and the immunity of every individual

Mayor of Chemnitz Ms. Barbara Ludwig
The ultimate prize for human dignity is for everyone to be able to live in peace and out of poverty.
The ultimate prize for human dignity is for everyone to live in a peaceful and poverty less world.
Peace can be achieved if everyone strives for a peaceful co-existence regardless of race, religion, skin colour and lineage.
If terrorisme is defined only on ones term it is if the world behests a new order in only a confined border.
The aftermath of war does not necessarily make a better society but deep anguish in the long road to recovery.
War split the mankind, you are with us or you are with them, then who is the enemy to fight against and who is the friend for peace to withstand?

Okinawa will always call for world peace!

Teruyoshi Kinjyo Okinawa City Hall, Section Chief

Ground battles involving civilians only took place in Okinawa during the Pacific War. Many precious lives, including more than 200,000 civilians, and much of our irreplaceable traditions were lost. The official instrument of surrender was signed in what is now Okinawa city on September 7th, 1945. The Okinawa city commemorated this day, the day the war ended, as Okinawa City Peace Day.
However, Okinawa city has continued to be called a military city. Attack forces were deployed from the bases facilities in this city during the Vietnam War, Gulf War, and Iraq war. Our citizens were never freed from the threat of war and terrorism. This reality made our citizens wish for peace even deeper, and we participate in civil movement activities in order to protect our rights, protesting against unjust results caused by the bases.
Our minds are set to preserve the awful memory of ground battle and the consequence of wars, in order to educate the world about the importance of peace. We will continue sending the messages of peace with the theme Winning peace through love, courage, and communication at the base of our peace philosophy passed down through Okinawas unarmed culture.

Today, we only see the word peace in newspaper articles and on TV, but for many people of my age, war is more realistic, as I was born during the war. My parents divorce gave me the first negative image of humans. Since I was a child, I have always thought about how peace could be created. Now I think a cord in our heart will bring us an understanding even among those who have different perspectives, lifestyles, religions, and interests. No two people think exactly in the same way. The difference is what is so beautiful. Accepting difference is the way for peace.
